Fold forming is a unique form of metalsmithing. It is a technique where the metal is annealed to 800 degrees Fahrenheit causing the grain structure of the brass to change and become malleable enough to fold and shape. Because the folds shape differently each piece varies.
I use jewelry grade brass in all of my fold form jewelry. Choose from red brass or silver plated brass The Jeweler's Brass, known as red brass is a beautiful alloy of 85% copper and 15% zinc. About my silver plated jewelry. A layer of pure silver is applied on top of the solid brass jewelry. The pieces are then oxidized giving them a antique finish.
